THE BIGGEST SHRIMP EVENT IN THE WORLD BRINGS TOGETHER REPRESENTATIVES OF GLOBAL AQUACULTURE IN THIS ECUADORIAN CITY
The Guayaquil Convention Center is the meeting point of global aquaculture with AQUAEXPO 2024, an event organized by the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA) for almost three decades.
This edition, which takes place from October 21 to 24, has nearly 400 stands in its Trade Fair, where domestic and foreign companies present the latest trends and innovations in the aquaculture sector, in terms of specialized services and products for each segment of the production chain. It is estimated that more than 10,000 visitors will attend the 4-day event.
The Technical Congress will address issues related to animal health, nutritional strategies, product quality and safety, efficiency in production processes, adoption of emerging technologies and shrimp market prospects, with the participation of world experts in two simultaneous conference rooms. More than 30 international delegations are expected to attend this segment of AQUAEXPO.
In addition, for the first time this year, a Sustainability Forum called “Race to the Top”, organized by the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership, was held. This forum was attended by 35 national and foreign speakers, who participated in four key sections: governance, environment, social and economic aspects.
Representatives from organizations such as the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) were present. “Race to the Top” took place on October 22 at the Guayaquil Convention Center.
Inauguration of AQUAEXPO 2024
This important aquaculture event was inaugurated at the Baquerizo Moreno Hall of the Guayaquil Convention Center on October 21. The board of directors was composed of: Luis Alberto Jaramillo, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries; Jekaterina Dorodnova, Ambassador of the European Union in Ecuador; Mary Fisk-Ridder, U.S. Consul; Fang Hao, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of China; Marcelo Vélez, President of the Board of Directors of the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA) and José Antonio Camposano, Executive President of the entity.
“This year, AQUAEXPO is not just a space to talk about challenges; it is a platform to build solutions. We have expanded our programming with new experiences, and for the first time, we bring you together with the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership the ‘Race to the Top’ forum, which is an invitation to raise our standards in sustainability and innovation. We want to go beyond meeting the expectations of our markets: we want to lead change in the global industry, setting new benchmarks based on the experience of Ecuador. Sustainability is not simply an objective: it is a responsibility that we must assume collectively, and for this it is crucial that we learn, share knowledge and collaborate more closely than ever,” said José Antonio Camposano, Executive President of the National Chamber of Aquaculture.
For his part, Luis Alberto Jaramillo, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries, said: “I want to reaffirm my strong and reliable commitment to contribute, so that this sector and all the export and production sectors of the country, can be better every day”.
AQUAEXPO 2024 will run until October 24 at the Guayaquil Convention Center.
